The Red Sea is the worlds northernmost tropical sea, home to more than 200 different corals, 1,200 different species of fish including Lion Fish, Stone Fish and Moray Eels…it’s also home to 44 different kinds of shark (awesome!). The latter sort of explains my slight hesitation (alright, major hesitation) towards kiting myself out in diving gear and venturing a few metres into the deep blue. Casting aside the fear of being eaten by a shark I was also concerned about my not so great swimming ability, my minor claustrophobia and my tendency to generally freak out in stressful situations…in retrospect all I should have been concerned about was sea sickness.
