A Pretty Penny

When you’re living in another country do you ever stop comparing the prices of things there to that of your home country? It took me at least six months to stop converting won to kiwi dollars in South Korea, whilst in London I’ve stopped doing it almost instantly. Why? Because converting pounds to dollars adds weight to my “London is expensive” theory when really it’s not that bad at all.

Our Apartment 2.1

Apartment living in Korea isn’t quite how I imagined it. Yes it’s an apartment, it has rooms, it has a bed. It also has a shoe cupboard, an all-in-one bathroom and divine heated floors.

As previously mentioned, our apartment is on the fourteenth floor of a large complex. I always wanted to live in some kind of skyscraper, but I think the 14th floor might be my limit!!

Our Apartment 2.0

On Friday we moved into our permanent accommodation in Yongam-Dong, a suburb of Cheongju. Why? Our initial accommodation was only temporary as it was too far away from our schools and this apartment was occupied until early last week.  Our new apartment is on the 14th floor of a 15 floor building and it’s only ten minutes walk from our schools (not a 25 min bus ride). It’s quite a change from where we were living in Sachang-Dong and even more of a change from NZ.
